Hey there , here we will look at some of the basic terms that you have to know to kick start your music knowledge . In this Blog we will cover few Terms like Treble clef , Bass Clef and the stave .



Treble Clef

  1. Treble Clef Treble Clef is also named as G clef . Treble clef denotes that the musician should play the piece / notes in his / her right hand .

Bass Clef

2. Bass Clef

Bass Clef is also named as F clef . Bass Clef denotes that the musician should play the piece / notes in his / her left hand .

3. Stave


Stave


Stave is also known as Stafff . Stave denotes the note / letter to be played on the instrument or to be sung . Stave is the place where the notes are written by the musician , for the musicians . You can look at the above images to refer how treble clef and bass clef is written on the stave line . Stave usually consists of 5 musical line . Each line and each space between the lines as it's own name . Let us now briefly discuss about the stave line . Stave lines is counted from bottom to Top . That is , The bottom line is counted as 1 and the top line counted as 5 .

In the above image , We can see the names of each lines and spaces for the respective Treble Clef and Bass Clef .


To remember the lines and spaces we can learn as

Every Good Boy Does Fine --> Treble Clef ( On Stave)

FACE --> Treble Clef ( On Space)

Good Boy Do Fine Always --> Bass Clef (On Stave)

All Cows Eat Grass --> Bass Clef (On Space)


the extra line that is shown behalf of the stave line is known as Leger line or Ledger line .


4.Crotchet

It is used to indicate that the player should play the given note for 1 Beat . It is also called as Quarter Note.

5. Minim

It is used to indicate that the player should play the given note for 2 Beat . It is also called as Half Note.

6. Semi Breve 

It is used to indicate the player should play the given note for 4 Beat . It is also called as Whole Note . 


Semibreve

7. Sharp 

It is used to indicate that the note should be played a semitone higher .



Sharp

 

8. Flat

It is used to indicate that the note should be played a semitone lower.


Flat

9.Natural

It is used to indicate that the note should be played in Natural key (White key ) .
