1. Rests (basics of keyboard)
Rests plays a beautiful role in music , where the music remains silence . Let us see some of the rests in this content .
a) Semi Breve Rest
On default , Semibreve rest carries 4 beats of silence . It is otherwise called as Whole rest . Here , the composer can use this rest in any time signature , if the composer wishes to have a bar full of silence.
In other words , If the time signature is 3/4 ( 3 Crotchet beats per bar ) then Whole rest carries 3 beats of silence .Similarly ,If the time signature is 2/4 (2 Crotchet beats per bar )The Whole rest carries 2 beats of silence .
Note is suited for any time signature .
b) Minim Rest
Minim rest carries 2 beats of silence . It is otherwise called as Half rest .
c)Crotchet Rest
Crotchet rest carries 1 beats of silence . It is otherwise called as Quarter rest .
d) Quaver , Semi Quaver and Demi Semi Quaver Rests .
Quaver rest carries 1/2 beats of silence , It as 1 Flag .
Semi Quaver rest carries 1/4 beats of silence , It as 2 flags .
Demi Semi Quaver rest carries 1/8 beats of silence . It as 3 flags .

2. Dotted notes
What is mean by dotted notes
Dotted notes are notes , which can be identified by a dot after a note .
Consider a dotted semi breve , How many count that the dotted semibreve last .?
4 + 2 = 6 beats .
Yes , A dot after a note indicates that , we need to add the exact note value and half the note value.

2 + 1 = 3 beats
Dotted Breve
8 + 4 = 12 beats
